Marta Vieira da Silva, or more commonly known to fans simply as Marta, is a Brazilian striker that helped the Brazil Women’s National Soccer team win the silver medal at both the 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Marta’s also been named the FIFA World Player of the Year five consecutive times from 2006 through 2010, which is a true testament to her status as one of the best soccer players in the history of the sport. At the 2007 Women’s World Cup, Marta won the Golden Ball awarded to the best player as well as the Golden Boot for the top goal scorer.
